Position Description:

The University of Louisville (UofL) seeks a qualified and experienced Program Coordinator to work on a 4-year grant from the Department of Labor. The grant will fund the Modern Apprenticeship Pathways to Success (MAPS) Program, whose mission is to advance the economic well-being and global competitiveness of the workforce within a stretch of Interstate 64 from Louisville to St. Louis and Interstate 65 through Kentucky and into Southern Indiana.

Reporting to the Academic Design & Employer Engagement team, the successful candidate will assist the Director of Academic Design & Employer Engagement and the Director of Professional Development & Community Engagement in coordinating all aspects of the MAPS program, including efforts related to marketing and communications, event planning, apprenticeship development, and work-based learning initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience working with multi-year projects, work-based learning, marketing, and program support in a higher education setting. This position is a full-time, benefited position that continues with possibility of renewal through February 2024 based on department need, staff performance, and grant/contract funding.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Marketing and Communications:
    • Helps develop, implement and manage social media strategy.
    • Manage the day-to-day administration of social media accounts to grow following and presence.
    • Collaborate with Program Director on designing informative and appealing content promoting the MAPS grant and apprenticeships.
    • Develop reports measuring the success of social media strategy and campaigns.
    • Supports marketing taskforce in raising awareness of and creating promotional materials for apprenticeships.
    • Work with Program Director to monitor, maintain and update program website.
    • Supports Program Director in development and maintenance of resources, processes, and materials necessary for successful program execution.
    • Helps craft and deliver communications to students, faculty, staff, employers and community organizations.
  • Apprenticeship Program Development:
    • Performs occupation research using O*Net and Apprenticeship.gov.
    • Completes apprenticeship registration documentation in collaboration with Program Director.
    • Serves as point of contact for employer representatives during apprenticeship registration process.
    • Assists Program Director with Community Engagement initiatives such as the Westend Apprenticeship Collaborative.
    • Schedules meetings for Program Director with employers and community-based organizations.
    • Assists Program Director with workforce development research activities.
    • Occasionally accompany Program Director to Community Engagement events.
    • Assist Co-Directors with data gathering for quarterly reports.
  • Event Planning:
    • Collaborate with Program Director to book venues.
    • Serve as point of contact for events sponsored by MAPS.
    • Manage event scheduling, invitations, and reservations.
    • Suggest vendors and coordinate catering.
    • Ensure event attendee sign-in.
    • Prepare expenditure documentation to be submitted to Unit Business Manager.
  • Academic Affairs:
    • Works collaboratively with academic faculty and staff to align MAPS program implementation to larger University efforts.
    • Support academic staff on MAPS project in advancing work-based learning (WBL) and competency-based education (CBE) delivery throughout the University.
    • Ability to communicate within a complex university system in a fast-paced, high-performance level environment with excellent oral, written and virtual presentation capability to forward grant initiatives.
    • Ability to represent and support an academic unit and its leadership in varied settings and activities, including assistance with efforts to market, recruit and garner interest in the project with external partners as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and three years of related experience.
  • Experience working with apprenticeships or other work-based learning programs
  • Experience or knowledge about competency-based education and designs
  • Experience working in higher education
  • Awareness of CRMs and other data-based approaches to recording and analyzing data
  • Demonstrated commitment to successfully supporting students.
  • Demonstrated commitment to stewarding government and university resources.
  • Demonstrated commitment to issues of equity, social justice, diversity, and to supporting students from multicultural communities and backgrounds.
Competencies
  • Project coordination: Able to coordinate multiple project stakeholders, both internal and external, involved in the MAPS Program.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access)
  • Proficiency in Graphic Design tools (Adobe Suite, Canva, etc.)
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
