Entry-level sports officers provide opportunities for participation in sport for all sections of the community by increasing participation in sport of all kinds. Entry-level sports officers provide a variety of services to athletes and coaches and also provide financial, investment, and tax advice. They also identify sport, recreation and health initiatives and oversee strategic planning and implementation and coordinate, deliver and promote relevant activities, classes and events. Entry-level sports officers are responsible for employing, training, supporting, developing and managing coaches and volunteer staff and raising public awareness of health and fitness issues and promoting participation in sport. Entry-level sports officers evaluate and monitor activities and projects using performance indicators. They are responsible to maintain records and producing written reports and to check venues and managing facilities.

An entry-level sports officer should have bachelor's degree. An entry-level sports officer requires sharp negotiating skills, shrewd political instincts, and an overwhelming desire to succeed. excellent communication skills and excellent organizational skills are required. An entry-level sports officer should be an outgoing personality, hard working and self motivated able to work extended hours as needed and to have patience to perform well.
