Entry-Level Safety Jobs

Entry-level safety officers work to protect people's health and safety by making sure risks in the workplace are properly controlled. They are responsible for investigating accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine causes and preventive measures and report or review findings from accident investigations, facilities, inspections, or environmental testing. Entry-level safety officers should inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment in order to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance. Entry-level safety officers have the responsibility to compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data related to occupational illnesses and accidents and interpret safety regulations for others interested in industrial safety, such as safety engineers, labor representatives, and safety inspectors. Entry-level safety officers should write and revise safety regulations and codes and also design and build safety equipment.

An entry-level safety officer should have a degree in safety & health or a related field and have exposure to OHSAS safety aspects. Capability to plan and execute all safety related activities is required. An entry-level safety officer would need to be able to think extremely logically, not jump to hasty conclusion, and be dedicated, persistent, patient, and very intelligent.
