The PhD Chemical Engineer will conduct research toward new product development or existing product improvement. Will contribute inventions, new design or techniques to solve technical problems or improve existing products or processes. This is an entry-level position in R&D where the individual will conduct laboratory and/or large-scale experiments to develop new chemical or polymeric products or processes. The Engineer will be responsible to analyze products and/or processes to evaluate results against requirements. Will work independently to achieve team goals. Will interact with different disciplines to assist in the integration of efforts into program goals. A Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Material Science & Engineering or an allied field is required. Experience in a scientific area of expertise via internships, co-ops, thesis research and/or other undergraduate research is required. Adept, hands-on experimentalist with experience in complex fluids & polymers, transport phenoma, rheology, interface science and/or polymer physics/engineering is required. Experience in material characterization, structure-property and utilization towards application development is required. A GPA of at least 3.0 within major field is preferred. Experience in polymer synthesis, polymer processing, chemical/mechanical characterization, coating technologies, and biomaterials is preferred. Proven analytical and problem solving skills are required. This individual must be a quick learner with the ability to work in a team-oriented environment that embraces change, risk, and flexibility. Extensive verbal and technical writing skills are required. Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team is required. Demonstrated ability to listen to customers' needs, develop solutions to meet their requirements, trust and respect is required. Able to apply and comprehend a broad range of engineering and scientific assignments is required. Demonstrated creative problem solving skills using innovative solutions and the ability to work on multiple projects with different priorities, while having the flexibility and multitasking skills to complete tasks to timelines is preferred.
