Finding the Best Entry–level Jobs for You
When you are first starting out in an industry, an entry–level position might not seem like a first choice to those who are proudly holding a brand–new college degree. Even those who do not have a degree but do have experience may not initially take into consideration the bonuses that can be found in many of these entry–level positions. However, many entry–level jobs can rapidly turn into lucrative careers if you choose wisely and select the right type of position.

There are usually a number of entry-level jobs that job hunters can find, and they will be available in almost every service industry. Electricians will often hire unskilled assistants to help them and these people can turn this opportunity into a very rewarding future career at the journeyman level. Factories will hire new and inexperienced workers and many of these people can apply themselves, work hard, and advance into management positions. These jobs may start at a low pay but can result in careers that are paying far more than you were making at the beginning.

Specific industries, like transportation or boating, will also hire unskilled workers. After just two years, many of these unskilled workers will be able to market themselves much better because they will have become trained and skilled workers. If they then choose to leave the company that they are with, they may find a new position that starts them at higher pay just for performing the jobs they were trained to do.

Being willing to work at an entry-level position and learn the art of fiberglass construction can provide skills that can be used in other fields or expanded to include working with auto manufacturers, boat repair, or in other specialized fiberglass industries. This is just one example of a great way to earn while you learn and end up making the transition to a higher-paying job in a fairly short period of time.

The most common entry-level jobs are often found in large factories. Factory work will often have a fairly low rate of pay for new hires, but this is only for a short period of time. The employer is watching to see who will last and be a good worker and who will not. Some of these workers are paid only minimum wage or a little better when they are first hired, but this will soon change. Within the first twelve months, many factory workers will find themselves making more money and they have many chances for additional advancement.

In order to continually advance through the ranks of your company, you have to do more than just show up. You will have to demonstrate to your employer that you have exemplary skills. When you are on time for work and are willing to shoulder your part of the load and step in when needed, this will be noted by employers. Make sure that you pay attention to your duties and try to learn other skills while you are on the job.

Letting your employer and supervisor know that you are reliable, honest, dependable, and a trusted employee will help you move up when openings occur, and you will be rewarded with higher pay. Your employer will also be willing to give you good references if you find another job. This reference and others like them will add to your standing when you apply for new jobs. Remember that for each position that becomes available you might be competing against numerous other employees for the job. Tools like references can be the added ammunition that helps you outpace the job candidate pack.

It is not uncommon for many companies to provide tuition assistance for their employees. You would be wise to take advantage of these types of opportunities whenever you can. Just by going to school part-time and gaining work experience at the same time will make you a better candidate for any job, but you will also be creating a better future for yourself with this additional education.

If you are taking advantage of continued education with the company’s tuition-assistance or reimbursement programs, they will also want to offer you a better job when you have graduated. Most tuition plans come with a requirement that commits you to work at your present company for a certain period of time after you have completed your courses. This means that going to school on an employee-tuition plan will add to your job security.

Entry-level positions are an integral part of today’s industrial and service-oriented business. These positions are hard for companies to fill because they do require dedicated and committed employees, and there is often a certain amount of hard work involved. Those individuals who can successfully complete the first six months are usually able to continue working at higher levels of pay and may even be promoted.

You can use an entry-level position to gain a feeling for the work and learn more about the industry. Keep your eyes open for other jobs at the company because first preference for many jobs will be given to those who are already employed by the facility. Some of the best benefits and retirement packages can be found in plants and companies that hire through a number of entry-level jobs.

In order to find some of the best entry-level jobs, many individuals who are currently performing active employment searches can find help with sites that list jobs online. IndustryCrossing is one of the job posting boards that lists only the top entry-level jobs in all industries that are presently available. This helps you save time and a great deal of energy by bringing the very best job possibilities to you.
